Ex-CEO: Jugra Bank owner can repay 17 bln rbl deposits from own funds

MOSCOW, Nov 2 (PRIME) -- The key owner of Jugra Bank, Alexei Khotin, is ready to repay 16.6 billion rubles to 35,000 depositors from his own money if the central bank gives back the license to the bank, former CEO of Jugra Bank Dmitry Shilyayev said on Thursday at a meeting with depositors.

The central bank revoked the license from the bank, which is among Russia’s top 30 on July 28. The Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) estimated compensation to depositors at 169.2 billion rubles but the compensation program covers only individuals with up to 1.4 million ruble deposits.

Shilyayev said that Khotin has a plan of deposit repayment to people with larger deposits. “We also hope for support by our depositors in court and in public and of course, we will continue to insist on the validity of our rights and the rights of all our depositors in court. Furthermore, the money will be compensated to legal entities that are creditors of the bank. The shareholder is ready to compensate creditor money if the bank is given the license back.”
